The Fish-A-Thon is the brain child of Steve Vigar who wanted to put something back into the hospital wards that he'd had contact with in the past.
Simply knocking on doors and asking for money is never the best way to raise funds so his love of fishing came to the rescue with the idea of a charity non stop 48 hour fishing event, or Fish-A-Thon.
The last Fish-A-Thon was held in May 2005 and was a great success, so with that in mind we're proud to present Fish-A-Thon 2, in aid of Rudham Children's Ward at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital King's Lynn.

The Rudham Childrens Ward at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital King's Lynn, is desperately in need of some new play equipment as well as a defined story time corner. With the money raised from the Fish-A-Thon 2 we're hoping to renew and update the play equipment as well as fund (in part or whole) a large fish tank, including the fish and ancillaries as well as a new seating area for story time corner.

The fish tank will be a stress reliever for the children, parents and of course the hard working staff, who are now fully aware of the scale of the Fishathon2 project, along with it’s potential.

This years Fish-A-Thon is bigger and of course better. On the 31st May 2007 at noon, 5 men armed with nothing more than true grit, determination, wet weather equipment, tents, sleeping bags, and maybe a beer or two, will do battle at the Fendicks Lakes for 48 hours of non stop fishing to try to catch 300lbs of fish. The likely lads this time are;

Steve V
Ed
Rod
Adam
Steve R

Karaoke Challenge

The Karaoke Challenge was an "open mike" format where singers battled it out to become the first Fishathon Karaoke Challenge winner for the coveted prize of a bit of tat otherwise known as a an old trophy.

All the singers paid 50p to sing a song which opened a pot for people to vote with their purse and wallet and the winner would be the competitor who won the most donations. All the money raised went to the Fish-A-Thon 2 pot.

After a tough fought contest of some truly dreadful singing (by me actually) there could only be one winner. He was a man who stole the show by dressing up as his childhood hero (the one and only Timmy Mallet no less) and performed the classic Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini. The winner was Anthony Bell who managed £92 of contributions alone with Rose Rooney a very close runner up.

Winner: Timmy Mallet aka Anthony Bell

Karaoke Challenge Total Raised
£312.69

A very big thanks to everyone who turned up and made the evening go with a swing. Special thanks to our hosts who truly entered into the spirit of things by opening and closing the event with a song, dressed as Sandy and Danny with some Greece classics.

Fish-A-Thon 2
This is the main event of the whole Fish-A-Thon concept. The 5 guys will be starting off all fresh and keen but rest assured by the end of 48 hours of solid fishing they may a little bleary eyed.

Auction
So far the auction has exceeded all expectations with many fantastic donations added to the auction lots. The growth of the auction is responsible for us having to move the whole fishing event 'one day to the left' in order to be able to incorporate the auction on the Saturday night on the 2nd June 2007.

Auction donations are still rolling so make sure you check back weekly for new items. Some of the items have reserves and others have already had email bids taken. If you have any items or services that you would like to donate then please do email Steve with your contribution, no matter how small.

Quiz
The Old White Bells monthly quiz's are rapidly becoming an event in themselves with fiendishly devised questions every time (although if you are a Sun reader and like looking at pictures then that helps too :-) Due to the Auction the previous night the quiz has been moved to the Sunday 3rd June.
