Beach Themed Night
Date: Sat 23rd July
Time: From 1pm to 11pm
Location: Playing Field
Project Manager: Charlene
Tickets: Free

Finally the beach theme
day arrived and although British weather was as expected, a great
day was had by all. The children loved the fairground rides, face
painting, pony rides and all the other stalls. With the men flexing
their muscles and the ladies, proving they were definitely a match,
a very competitive Tug a War ensued. With lots of grunting and yelling
the British Sugar team triumphed! Well done to all who entered.
The children also had a go!
Then as the evening progressed lots of laughter came from the antics
at the surf simulator and everyone danced to the fabulous "Martha's
Wood".
Swish would like to thank Jolene Osler and Emma Fowler for the excellent
painted faces, Chrissie Reeve and Tommy for great pony rides, Danny
Nicholson, Dale Osler and Shane Reeve for all their help with setting
up and packing away, Nicholsons machinery and the talented "Martha's
Wood". We would also like to thank all who came and supported
us, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we all did!

8th of December Father Christmas visited the good children of southery.

The smiles on

It finally arrived,
after much excitement and nervousness our eight contestants finally
got to show their talent, and what magnificent talent they all had!
The Beautiful
Blondes, who were last years winners opened the show with style
and then with a whole other routine danced fantastically. We had
Nathan singing, and as the rehearsals continued, he got better and
better. Girls Attitude, who entered for the second year, were great
and even more professional than last time, their dance moves and
timing were impeccable! Carla and Ashleigh made easy work of Under
my Umbrella and sang beautifully and confidently. Sylvia and Rose,
our ladies of the evening showed us their graceful Natural voices
individually by performing Love Changes Everything and Yesterday
Once More and Robbo's Rebels finished the show with Jodie and Lillie
singing in harmony and Robbo accompanying them on guitar! Finally
we had the winner Martin Rooney, who worked his magic on the uni
cycle and again showed us his fantastic skills with the diablo,
he made it look so easy and I know he worked really hard to get
it perfect. A well deserved winner!
Well done to
all of you who entered, we wouldn't have been able to do it without
you and in SWISH's eyes, you were all winners! Thank you also to
all the judges, Peter Smith, Spike Dewing, Nigel Bird and Claire
Rooney! Thank you to Micks Plaice for the well received chips!
Another big thank you to Emma and Jeff for their fantastic hosting
skills, Dave for his photography and videoing, Hayley for keeping
control of all the acts and making sure they were on stage at the
right time, Kevin for being brilliant as DJ Kev Dog! And all the
SWISH members who helped out behind the scenes! Well done for organising
another great event!

The First Annual
Swish Ball took place on a glorious warm evening on the the 3rd
July 2010. It was a chance for all who came to really dress up for
the evening and there was a fantastic turn out of dresses, hair
do's and James Bond look-a-likes.
The band, Second Chance 01284 760043, provided us with a fantastic
mix of old and new tunes to dance the evening away and all agreed
they produced a great sound. The bands rest period was covered by
MC D and the KBR Experience, a hastily formed duo (i.e.: me and
Kev) who filled in with the disco rig borrowed from the Old White
Bell when our other live perfomer let us down at the 11th hour.
The buffet provided by Nicola from the Old White Bell deserves a
special mention, as everyone praised the fantastic spread.
Also praised was the way the village hall had been transformed.
A lot of work from all the team members went in to making the look
and the feel of the place a warm, friendly and pleasant place to
be.
The Pictures from the event can be found by clicking on the masquerade
mask picture to your left. A printed copy of a pic is available
for £5 each, £3 of which will go into the Swish Fund.
All images will come in a cardboard mounted frame with an 8x6inch
display. Note down the image file name you would like and either

Date: 29th April 2010

On
Thursday 29th April a group of infants and toddlers took part in
a sponsored walk from Southery playgroup, to and around the playing
field in aid of The Swish Foundation. The children and parents were
invited to dress up in anything funny, we had some people arrive
still wearing their pyjamas, a tinkerbell, a police officer
and even Woody from Toy Story turned up. All the children did very
well and afterwards were invited back to the village hall for cakes
and refreshments. A fun morning was had by all and the children
managed to raise a fantastic £208.00.
This is a great start for the Swish Foundation. Very well done all
of you!!!
