Southery Carnival

2nd June 2012

2012 promises to be a year of celebrations from The Queen's Diamond Jubilee to the Olympics. In Southery, we're planning to be part of the fun with the reintroduction of the Southery Carnival.

A carnival committee was formed in the middle of 2011 as a sub committee of the parish council and since its inception have been responsible for starting the ball rolling for organising the event and raising funds.

The Carnival is being held on Saturday 2nd June 2012 in the theme of The Queens Jubilee and the Olympics. Starting with a street procession of floats leading to a traditional village fete on the playing field, we'll have stalls and shows galore to keep the whole family entertained right through into the night.

Opening the carnival this year will be Anglia Tonight's Becky Jago, who will also be judging the floats after the procession around the village. Entertainment and stalls so far include;

Itinerary & Information

Procession
The Procession will start at 12.30pm from the old onion factory in Ringmore Road, proceed left into Campsey Road, right onto Feltwell Road, left into Upgate Street, right into Recreation Drive and on to the playing field.

Road Closure
Road closure has been granted for the route by Norfolk Borough Council for the duration of the procession.
